HOT WATER SERVICING

NEED A PLUMBER? WE’RE IN YOUR TERRITORY!

For most homes and businesses, access to hot water is a basic necessity. To keep your hot water system in top condition, we recommend a regular service on your unit. This will ensure the hot water flows as it should – plus, inefficient, poorly maintained units can end up costing you hundreds of dollars a year on excess energy. As experts in hot water systems, our Plumbdogs are equipped to service and maintain all leading brands of gas and electric hot water systems including Rheem, Dux, Bosch, Vulcan and Rinnai. And, they’ll always arrive on time with speed, tidiness and workmanship guaranteed.

Just like a car, your hot water system needs regular servicing – not just for optimum performance, but also to minimise the likelihood of a breakdown, which we all know can happen at the worst times.

One of the most common causes of water heater failure is blocked pilot tubes, where spider webs can obstruct the flow of gas.

Thermocouples, which ensure the gas valve remains closed when the system is not in use, have limited service life and must be periodically replaced. Other common problems are blocked line strainers, faulty ignition packs and faulty solenoids.

Regardless of the age or type of system installed, we recommend having it serviced at least once every two years by one of our fully qualified Plumbdog hot water plumbers. To ensure maximum life of your unit, you should also replace its sacrificial anode as part of regular servicing.

Manufacturers recommend you have all of your gas and electric appliances serviced regularly, which includes a regular major service of your hot water system. Our servicing will include the following tests and maintenance tasks:

Gas storage: Clean burner and pilot tube, check/replace thermocouple, test gas valve & thermostat, check inlet and burner pressure, check condition of anodes, test hot and cold relief valves.

Gas instantaneous:  Clean burner and pilot tube, test/replace thermocouple, replace diaphragm and O-rings, check inlet and burner pressure, test solenoids.

Electric storage: Test electrical connection, test thermostat and element, check condition of anodes, test hot and cold relief valves.

Electric instantaneous: Test electrical connection (3 phase power), test thermostat, line strainer and flow switch, test relief valves.

Standard hot water service: As part of your regular hot water service, we will always inspect your unit for both age and condition, with an average time of 30 – 60 minutes on-site. Any parts required will vary in price according to the brand and size of your unit.

If we pick up any faults during our hot water system service, we’ll discuss the next course of action to fix the problem in the most cost-effective way. We keep our service vans fully stocked, so in most cases we can find a solution on the spot.

If your existing hot water system is beyond repair and must be replaced, we supply and install a range of top brand gas storage and gas instantaneous hot water systems, along with electric instantaneous and electric storage. But don’t worry, we’ll only cross that bridge if we have to.
