Today we’re looking after an apartment in East Perth with a water leak reported in one of the bathrooms. They first had Richard out a few months ago to change taps and toilets as they wanted to be proactive and have fittings replaced in preparation of having a baby. The property is now decorated and painted with new carpets and now unfortunately there is flooding on the floor.
After investigating it’s not an issue with the fittings *phew*. As Plumbdogs, we pride ourselves in quality work and like anyone who takes pride in their work, don’t want to be the cause of any issues.
After using his water leak detection equipment, Richard has confirmed that there is noise in the radius of the basin indicating a leak in the area. He’s taken off the wall tiles and you can see dry copper pipes but at the bottom, there’s a Hepworth conversion fitting. These convert pipes from copper to plastic and from experience, these are just prone for leaks.
PLUMBING WITH MINIMAL DISRUPTION
As you already know our Plumbdogs are great at working in tight spaces causing minimal disruption. In some circumstances like todays property, the design of the property being an apartment does not make it easy being a compact design. In order to properly detect and work around the leaking are, Richard had to remove a couple of wall tiles and make a hole in one of the floor tiles creating a little bit of a mess. You can see even when removing the fitting, there was little space to work with to even get the tools in.
A TEMPORARY REPAIR
As with any jobs that we complete and having relationships with our customers and knowing what they may need to consider, Richard not only explains the situation but also allows for them to think about which direction they want to take with the property. In the current state of the bathroom, the customers could simply return the property to how it was previously but since some tiles are off the wall already and pipes are exposed, it could give opportunity for renovation. On this occasion it was necessary to perform a temporary repair but in the meantime, our customers were happy that the plumbing was working again in time for the weekend.
