Top Dog Darius has come out to replace a water main that goes under the house. While we usually have one Plumbdog on jobs, on occasion some jobs simply need two and when you watch the video you’ll see why.

The great thing is these two top dogs know their stuff and know how to get the job done efficiently while also having some fun and playing nice with each other. Check out the video and we hope you find it useful and as entertaining as we did.

WHY REPLACE A MAIN PIPE? WHY DID THE WATER SERVICE FAIL?

If pipes have been laid down properly the first time, there usually isn’t a need to simply replace a main service pipe but there are times perfectly good reasons why these pipes need replacing on occasion. At the property today, the copper piping appeared fine but copper is not favourable to every soil type and in this case the soil used to fill the surrounding areas was attacking the copper. The poly plastic pipe is more favourable as it is not going to have the same detriment as the copper from the soil.

WORKING IN TIGHT SPACES

You’ve probably heard plumbers complain about having to work some jobs in tight spaces. Sometimes through the roof or under the house. At the property in todays VLOG, our Plumbdogs get their paws dirty (at least Darius does) where he gets into some really tight places to get the job done. You’ve seen him in other videos complete plumbing jobs with minimal disruption to properties working in spaces where one could barely fit their hands let alone tools. Watch what happens when Darius squeezes into the tightest of spaces under the house.

HOW TO CONNECT BETWEEN COPPER AND POLY PIPING

For this installation where we are converting between copper and poly piping, we’re using a Philmac joiner. Checck out the video at 5:55 where Darius tells us a little bit more about using this joiner.

As always, if you are working with piping, especially for a job like this, please use a licensed and qualified plumber that knows what they are doing. If you aren’t sure of what you are doing, leaks could happen and you could even potentially cause damage to other sections of pipe creating more long term issues. We’ve shown you before jobs where even other plumbers haven’t done a great job installing which have led to leaking and burst pipes.
