We would much rather repair and maintain a gas hot water system. This saves creating unnecessary waste in landfills and keeps more money in our customers pockets. When necessary, if we do recommend a new hot water system, we can also recommend whether a like for like replacement is sufficient or our Pedigree Plumbdog is more than happy to work out with you which system is best to replace with or if an upgrade is required.
Just like a car, your gas hot water system needs regular servicing – not just for optimum performance, but also to minimise the likelihood of a breakdown, which we all know can happen at the worst times.
One of the most common causes of water heater failure is blocked pilot tubes, where spider webs can obstruct the flow of gas.
Thermocouples, which ensure the gas valve remains closed when the system is not in use, have limited service life and must be periodically replaced. Other common problems are blocked line strainers, faulty ignition packs and faulty solenoids.

When you call us to book your technician, your customer service representative will schedule you an appointment with one of our technicians in a 4 hour time window at a mutually agreed upon time.
Our plumber will message you or call you when he’s on his way to your property so you’re not peering out the window like a lost puppy.
When he arrives on site he will have a chat with you about your plumbing issues and then return to his van to put an estimate together for the work you require.
He will present the estimate to you and if you are happy to proceed, your plumber will have you sign the estimate and he can usually get started on your job straight away.
